4 Bone Marrow Drives: March 22, 2006
3.22.2006 Submitted By: National Council

On Feb 23, 2006, Parag K. Patel, husband of National Founding Mother Manisha Vakharia, was diagnosed with Leukemia. He has undergone his first round of chemotherapy treatment. On March 23, 2006, Parag K. Patel and his family were told the only way to save him is a BONE MARROW TRANSPLANT. Please join us in the effort to save his LIFE and many others like him.

Patients all over the world need people like you to donate marrow, peripheral (circulating) blood or umbilical cord blood, or to help in other ways. There are many ways you can contribute. SAMAR serves patients diagnosed with leukemia and other fatal blood disorders from the South Asian community and other minority groups who are in search of Blood Stem Cell/Marrow donors. A complete health check is done to ensure there is no danger to either the recipient or the donor. The chances of finding a match have improved in the past few years but still there are several minority patients who need a match. Large number of donors from the same race increase the chance of a patient finding a match for a life-saving marrow transplant. Together, we can HELP BRING A SMILE BACK TO LIFE.
